What is WOW?

Women on Wheels, WOW, is an international non profit organization dedicated to supporting women motorcyclists.  The Cool Lady Cruisers, CLC, are a local WOW chapter based out of Chattanooga Tennessee.  We are an AMA sanctioned club with no local dues or minimum meetings to attend.  Our emphasis is on fun, friendship, and riding!

Who can join?

All women who are interested in motorcycles may join.  Men may become support members if they are sponsored by a female member.  Children may also join.  Applications are available from our members and at local bike shops.  Once completed the prospective member should mail their applications and national dues directly to the WOW headquarters.  It's that simple!

Can men come to the meetings and rides?

Men are asked not to attend a meeting unless they are invited by their sponsoring member.  They may participate in predetermined co-ed rides, but they must ride in, or near, the back of the group.  Men are welcome on all overnight trips.

When and where are the meetings held?

The chapter meets on the second weekend of each month at Magoo's in East Ridge, TN,(3658 Ringgold Rd), rain or shine.  All meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month at 11am. All meetings are held generally last 30 to 60 minutes and are followed by a ride if the weather permits.

Is this club involved in the community?

CLC has always been a group that could be counted on to help others with their charitable acts.  We participate in numerous toy and poker runs.  At Christmas we sponsor children that are in the custody of the state and have been hospitalized due to behavioral problems.  We also particiapte in the "Race For The Cure", which benefits breast cancer research.

CLC has gone beyond simply particiapting in events held by other groups.  We have held 2 benefits of our own.  The first was held in the summer of 2001 to benefit Tommy Cass.  Tommy has owned a local bike shop for 30 years.  When his wife died of cancer CLC held a benefit to help with medical bills.  Nearly $1,000 was raised.

The second event was held in January, 2002.  It benefited April and Brett Tabor who lost their infant son to SIDS.  Little Samuel had several relatives in the biking community.  The outpouring of support was incredible, $2,300 was raised to help this grieving couple.

Chattanooga CLC is proud to be a sponsoring organization for First Things First Ride for the Families.  First Things First is a local, Not-for-profit, organization which has been serving the Hamilton County area since 1996.  FTF is dedicated to the preservation of the family unit through education.  With the help of FTF our county has seen a marked decrease in divorce, out-of-wedlock pregnancy and an increase in the involvement of fathers with their families.  The Ride for the Families is held on the fourth Saturday in April.  We would love to see you there!!
